This is part two in a three part blog series that focuses on prom poses. In my first post I showed examples of some age appropriate sitting poses which can be viewed here. Today’s post will show three standing poses. You will want to make sure you capture elements of the girls dress. If it is a long dress show it in a full shot and actually even if the girl is wearing a short dress you still need a full length shot showing off her shoes. Since this is prom, I try not to shoot the back of the girl and if I do (they may want that shot if their dress has some kind of fancy design on the back) I make sure it is done in a flattering PG way.
Try to change the angles that you shoot at. In the example below I did a straight on shot, one from an elevated position and one where the couple was higher than me. This will make for more interesting portraits.
I did this prom session at the Fort Worth Botanical Garden / Japanese Gardens. There is a permit required to shoot there.
