I have fallen a bit behind on keeping up my blog. So, lets go back a bit and start with the Easter mini sessions. I wanted to do a mix of indoor and outdoor photographs.
For the indoor session I made some vases out of mason jars. The original idea came from a site that I frequent for crafting ideas and actually that was my last blog post. You can read our post about it here: It’s Time for Easter & Spring Minis
Mason jars are very inexpensive and can be used tons of different ways. I really liked the painted jars with the bunny stencil but wanted to make my own version. I purchased three different size jars at our local Hobby Lobby store along with some modge podge and a small bottle of white acrylic paint. I used brown paper lunch bags (you can use any type of paper bag or even tissue paper), ripped them up in small pieces, and modge podged them onto the jars. After that dried completely I found some bunny images online printed those in different sizes and cut them out to use as stencils. I held the stencils over the area I wanted to have the bunnies and added the paint. Here is a couple of cell phone pictures of the jars:
Of course as soon as my daughter saw the brown bags she thought we were going to make puppets. While we were waiting for the jars to dry we created these bag puppets. I found the images online, resized them to fit the bags, glued them on and then helped her with the coloring.
For the indoor portraits I used a rectangle fabric table cloth with a floral pattern and tapped it into position on all sides including the bottom. On the floor I used a rectangle vinyl yellow table cover that you can get at any dollar store. The white baseboard is from the local hardware store (can’t remember if I purchased it from Loews or Home Depot) and it is 5 feet long which cost about $7. Once all of that was in place I added the mason jars and other props. If the material you want to use has any wrinkles you can hang it at least two days prior to let them fall out, unless you want to iron the fabric then that is also an option (personally I don’t iron).
Here is an image from one of the indoor sessions:
The outdoor sessions were at various locations in the Fort Worth area. Below is one of them from the local Seminary.
Spring sessions are great for family portraits. This image below was taken at Trinity Park.
This spring session was in the West 7th St area. Can you believe this pretty girl is going to be a freshman next year. She is very tall :)
Senior photos are still in demand during spring for current seniors but also for students who will be seniors the following year.
I will have several more blogs coming up in the next couple of days. I want to continue my blog series on great photography locations around the city and the series on before and afters. Another blog will be some images from our bluebonnet sessions.
